B.K.S Iyengar was a weak and sickly child, affected by several diseases (typhoid, malaria and tuberculosis). At the age of 16 he was initiated by his brother-in-law T.Krishnamacharya who taught him some postures in order to improve his health, and who after two years told him that he was not gifted and not qualified. for this discipline. But Iyengar, who had taken a liking to the practice, continued as an autodidact and became a great master of yoga.
